Long and Short Stitch

Long and Short Stitch

Mixing stitch lengths blends and fills in your embroidery just like you painted it...but with thread.

Quick Refresher:

1: To begin, insert the needle through the fabric from beneath.

2. Bring your needle down the distance of the space you want to fill. Only fill in a small portion of your design, espcially if your design is large. Working in sections leads to the best result.

3. Continue by adding more stitches until your design or shape is completely filled in. Think of this stitch as “coloring with thread”.

4. Once you have your first section filled, continue on to the next section, repeating steps

Tip

  • It is helpful to come up in between threads at different intervals (staggered) to avoid a distinct line.
